\nIt’s all plastic by now. It’s a pain to remove, and the carburettor won’t come off either…<\/p>\n

\nGood thing new parts are available. Rubber is really something you can’t do anything about.<\/p>\n

Looking closely at it, I’d say the shorter the intake manifold body, the more durable it is.<\/p>\n

\nSo it’s been what, over twenty years? There’s corrosion showing up in the hard-to-reach areas under the tank.<\/p>\n

\nYou can tell it’s been taken apart before. It’s held together with gasoline-resistant liquid sealant, which is a pain to peel off.<\/p>\n

Good thing there’s no rust.<\/p>\n

\nAs expected, the starter valve is discontinued. I’m not too familiar with Keihin vacuum carburetors, so I couldn’t investigate it this time.<\/p>\n

This level of wear is fine.<\/p>\n

\nThe slide valve wear is gradual too. This probably won’t be available either, but… (unconfirmed).<\/p>\n

\nGood thing the diaphragm isn’t damaged.<\/p>\n

\nPolishing wasn’t requested this time, but I handled it with light cleaning.<\/p>\n

\nThe actual fuel level is hard to see, so I checked it by float level.
\nThe SJ needle broke, so I replaced all of them.<\/p>\n

\nThe butterfly won’t close even though I didn’t take it apart.<\/p>\n

\nThe rod connecting cylinders 2 & 4 to 1 & 3 was the culprit. Whether things got weird because I took everything apart is unclear, but I fixed it on my end.<\/p>\n

\nSet the sync in this state \u2192 finish \u2192 attach the cable \u2192 get pulled slightly \u2192 sync goes out.
\nAt first I thought, hmm, is the cable messed up? I got stuck on that for a while.<\/p>\n

\nNow I can relax. It revs hard and the idle is super stable.<\/p>\n

\nWater gets in from the front cover mounting area and causes rust. That would be a problem if a hole opened up. I applied rust preventative to handle it.<\/p>\n

\nDuring inspection, the headlight brightness wouldn’t come up\u2014a real headache.<\/p>\n

Multi-reflectors don’t usually cause problems, but circumstances are always changing.<\/p>\n

\nI’m glad we had a headlight tester. You can’t handle something like this on the road.<\/p>\n

With a prayer in my heart, I stuck a rag inside the headlight and polished it, and…
\nIt went up to 18,000 candlepower.<\/p>\n

I realized you can’t underestimate cleaning. Done!<\/p>\n
