\nThe grommet leak I hate. Grommet leaks aren’t necessarily a problem in themselves, but\u2026
\n“The wiring is hardened and scary.” But solving it at the root of the alternator is always a bit risky, so I’m constantly torn.<\/p>\n

\nWhile I’m at it, I’ll smooth out the old damage. Modern sanders have so many convenient features\u2026 I’m genuinely impressed.<\/p>\n

\nI confirm the position and apply epoxy to the wiring side.<\/p>\n

\nThen I thread it through. I fill the hole too. After that, I secure it so it won’t drip and let it dry outside.
\nIn this heat, it’s almost rock solid in just ten minutes. Amazing.<\/p>\n

\nI checked for any abnormalities around the starter clutch and closed it up.<\/p>\n

\nThe sprocket cover was off, so I cleaned the release. Watch out\u2014the balls roll right out.<\/p>\n

\nI can never get the position right 100 percent\u2014is it because I’m not used to it? Every time a ball falls out and I get frustrated\u2026 Life hardly ever goes smoothly, does it?<\/p>\n

\nI oil the speedometer cable the usual way.<\/p>\n

\nThe wheel bearings should be fine too.<\/p>\n

\nThe axle is fine as well.<\/p>\n

\nI apply rust-preventive oil to the bottom case and other parts, work it in well, and wipe it off.<\/p>\n

\nThe dirt wipes right off and it shines like new.<\/p>\n

\n13 mm heads aren’t standard anymore these days. If you don’t use them, you have one fewer tool to carry.
\nM8 \u2192 12 mm across flats, M10 \u2192 14 mm across flats (17 mm in some places) works well, I think.<\/p>\n

\nSomewhat surprising\u2026 it’s an aluminum piston\u2026 Wow! It operated smoothly.<\/p>\n

\nWith older bikes, it’s better to loosen the fender at this point and tighten it after final alignment. The axles and forks on these bikes are so thin they move around that much.<\/p>\n

\nI replaced the front brake fluid first. Everyone, please change it once a year.<\/p>\n
