\nThe request was for fluid and lubricant changes, and to check the rest as needed. I’ll do a light check on everything besides the fluid exchange.<\/p>\n

I finally figured out how to use this wristband thing. I used to wrap a towel around it, but if you lift it up a bit before opening the cap\u2014ah, much safer. I learned something new.<\/p>\n

\nFront and rear, plus the anti-nose-dive points\u2014I drained and replaced them all thoroughly.<\/p>\n

\nAn electrical plate I made a while back. I have to say, the serviceability is excellent.
\nBack then I didn’t have a spot welder, so I had to TIG weld the plates together one by one. Looking back, that was a lot of work\u2014now I can make them much faster.<\/p>\n

\nFront fork. Lubricate the lower part, and protect the upper part well against rust\u2014that way there’s no corrosion and it lasts a long time.<\/p>\n

\nI’ll clean the caliper. Once you remove the plastic cover, you can rotate the piston.<\/p>\n

\nWhen washing the caliper, always remove the boots first. (Water gets in and the slide pins rust.) When it gets this sticky, replacing it makes everything feel cleaner.<\/p>\n

\nSingle-piston operation depends on smooth piston and slide pin movement. When they move smoothly, the rolling action is better too.<\/p>\n

\nBesides the photos, I lubricated all the spots accessible from the outside. (*Since it was disassembled last time, I’m doing external lubrication.)<\/p>\n

\nClean both the chain and sprocket, and make sure to lubricate the chain well.<\/p>\n

\nThe speedometer cable gets a cleaning and lubrication too at times like this.<\/p>\n

\nEngine oil is ELF MOTO4RACE 10W-60.<\/p>\n

I want a bit more margin against heat thinning. I want solid recovery after heat thinning. That sort of thing.
\nI want solid shift feel. I want smooth engine feel. And so on\u2014overall, the engine noise seems a bit quieter too.<\/p>\n

I think you can feel the difference in engine oil quality best not right after you pour it in, but after you’ve run a few hundred kilometers and it’s broken in.<\/p>\n

Consumables like engine oil, tires, chain, and brake pads are things you replace by mileage or time. Drop the assumptions, try different things, and find what works for your feel\u2014that’s what I think.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
