\nFirst, we’ll file down the Suzuki’s bumpy step throttle.<\/p>\n

\nIt gets loose, so don’t overdo it.<\/p>\n

\nAftermarket grips are really good these days. This grip diameter comes in various sizes, which is a huge help. A lot of 80s and 90s bikes surprisingly end up too short. Watch out!<\/p>\n

\nRemove the wheel and check the bearings and distance collar position.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nIf possible, we want to give love to the little details too. A little lubrication makes things 1% smoother.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nSpeed wire doesn’t need replacing if it doesn’t break. So let’s clean it and oil it to keep it from breaking.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nCleaning the inside of the bottom case and applying rust preventative makes it harder for dirt to stick and provides rust protection too. Definitely do it when you have it off!<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThe axle shaft looks fine too.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nIt spins smoothly. I think the quality of wheel rolling is mostly determined by the brakes in front (ignoring air pressure) and the brakes and chain in the rear.<\/p>\n

Brakes make up a big part of it. Disc and pad wear (reduced in cross-section), caliper seal deterioration, and so on. Brakes where the piston returns well after you squeeze them tend to roll pretty smoothly.<\/p>\n

But that’s hard to achieve…<\/p>\n

\nThe caliper was in good shape.<\/p>\n

\"\" \"\"
\nWashing it and then applying rust preventative gives it a nice shine (we don’t coat the piston area) and looks great.<\/p>\n

\nWe polish the spring and bring it back to life.<\/p>\n

We also replaced the brake pads with RK-MAX.<\/p>\n

\nWe lift the dust seal and clean and lubricate inside.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThis is the debris that accumulated in the dust seal. The dust seal really does its job.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThe area between the top and bottom rusts easily, so it’s good to apply rust preventative.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nOpen the fork cap and occasionally equalize it to atmospheric pressure. If it smells like rotten eggs, watch out.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nWe disassemble and clean and lubricate both left and right levers.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThe starter button wasn’t working well. We partially disassembled it and checked with contact cleaner. No problems found.<\/p>\n

\nWe clean the disc holes. If you occasionally remove debris, degrease, apply the brakes hard to reset the contact, it feels fresh again.<\/p>\n
