\nFor the air valve, I chose Ariete aluminum. You don’t have to worry as much about degradation and cracking.
\nMy recommendation is to make it a different color from the wheel\u2014it’s convenient when you’re filling the tire.<\/p>\n

\nIdeally, position the air valve to the right when you’re straddling the bike. It’s hard to reach if it’s on the side stand side.<\/p>\n

\nI peeled off the rim area, but the surface looks kind of coated? I’m being careful and keeping it minimal.<\/p>\n

\nThe air valve on original wheels isn’t always at the bottom. I’ve found it often works better to assemble with the heavy point of the wheel and the light point of the tire aligned.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nBias tires can sometimes have a lot of runout. Apply liquid wax thoroughly to the tire bead, fill to the maximum pressure listed, and let it sit. If there’s still runout, trim the bead, apply wax, and fill to max pressure again. If that doesn’t work, I give up mode kicks in.<\/p>\n

Even a small improvement makes a difference in handling and straight-line stability. (Though it really is just a little.)<\/p>\n

\nThe wheel bearings still had some oil in them. I’ll replace them with dual-sided seals.<\/p>\n

\nLet me check the distance collar too.<\/p>\n

\nThis chrome adjuster was about 130 yen, I think. It’s worth replacing right away. It makes a real difference in appearance.<\/p>\n

\nThe axle looks fine too.<\/p>\n

\nEven a small bit helps. If you do it now, you’ll be good for a while.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThe seal is bent a little. I’ll trim it and reuse it.<\/p>\n
