\nFirst, we start by fabricating a bracket for the Watanabe coil. While a blue bracket would work fine too, taking this extra step improves maintainability and other aspects.
\nThe process is: keep it as thin and light as possible, add ribs, perform barelling, tack-weld the nuts, and so on.
\n*Please note: we do not perform relocation or bracket fabrication after installation by other shops or individuals.<\/p>\n

\nWe could have lightened it further, but due to time constraints we stopped here.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nLately, Watanabe coils come with rubber covers, which seem convenient. I worked on one recently, and just the other day it came loose inside the cover\u2014even with two cable ties securing it\u2014so I’ve lost faith in them! That’s why we do it this way.<\/p>\n

This shrink tubing can be cut off with a cutter. If you use heat-shrink tubing instead, it won’t come loose even if you pull on it. We’re promoting the welded version for safety and reliability.<\/p>\n

\nSo that no one makes a mistake in the future, we label everything with a label maker\u2014an old-timer’s essential tool.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nWe label the cords too. The old method used shrink tube marking, but it tends to fade, so we switched to tape.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThe plug cover will finish cleanly if you punch it out with a 20mm punch.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nWe replace the spark plugs. For some reason, these are resistor-less.<\/p>\n

\nPlease widen the gap. Rather than prying it open, it’s better to hold the right spot and adjust carefully.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nAnd when mounted, it looks like this. Understated and good!<\/p>\n

\nI sometimes see bikes where someone installed it themselves and made the plug cord too short, resulting in poor maintainability. If you lay it out a few times and think through “installation and removal for maintenance,” I think you’ll get a better result.<\/p>\n

\nAnd just like that, we’re done\u2014here’s the Watanabe unit mounting bracket. You could just stick it on, but “if it were my bike, I’d absolutely hate it, so the customer’s bike should be done right too.”<\/p>\n

\nWe secure it with sponge, dual-lock adhesive, and cable ties\u2014nice and subtle.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nIt sits inside the right tail cowl. Of course, you can’t turn the dial, so be careful.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThat incredibly sturdy bracket\u2014we polished it up nicely too. 52 by 10 millimeters? That’s impressive.<\/p>\n

\nAs we head into the harsh summer ahead, we’re using “ELF MOTO4RACE 10W-60.”
\nIts heat resistance and durability are excellent.
\nWe changed the engine oil and filter.<\/p>\n

\nReplace the drain bolt once in a while too!<\/p>\n
