\nThe air filter was dirty, so we replaced it. Ram-air models tend to show dirt buildup pretty noticeably.<\/p>\n

\nWe lubricated the clutch lever and cable. There was still some oil from last time, so it’s in good shape.<\/p>\n

\nWe also cleaned the rear caliper. It has the original single-piston aluminum design. In hindsight, I wish I’d measured the diameter\u2026<\/p>\n

\nWhen it comes out clean, the next step is polishing and so on.<\/p>\n

\nWe removed the rear wheel. We cleaned the inside of the swingarm as much as we could and applied rust preventative.<\/p>\n

\nWheel design keeps improving every day.<\/p>\n

\nThe wheel bearings are in solid condition.<\/p>\n

\nWe took our time cleaning the underside of the fender too.<\/p>\n

\nThe inverted fork’s weak point. We cleaned the inside and applied rust preventative. No rust means longer life.<\/p>\n

\nThe caliper was in good condition. We washed it and applied rust preventative.<\/p>\n

\nCoolant is something you want to change at least once every two years, even if you skip a year.
\nWater-cooled engines heat up fast. No matter how good the cooling is, if you get stuck in heavy traffic or long traffic lights, the temperature can get dangerously high. For long red lights, I think it’s fine to turn the engine off.<\/p>\n

Temperature rises \u2192 coolant returns to the reservoir \u2192 if severe, it overflows from the reservoir \u2192 temperature drops and coolant returns from the reservoir to the radiator \u2192 reservoir level drops and eventually runs empty \u2192 radiator also has low coolant \u2192 engine gets hot and that’s rough.<\/p>\n

\nWe changed the fluid.<\/p>\n
