\nThere’s no front sprocket available to convert the GPZ750F to 520, so we have to adapt a Sunstar one\u2014which means some modification is necessary.<\/p>\n

But since that wasn’t going to work, we’re going a different route.<\/p>\n

\nEither reduce the front or increase the rear. Since we have to increase the rear, we’ll make a shim. We’ll punch it out\u2014<\/p>\n

\n\u2014and there we have it. With the right tools, you get a clean, quick finish.<\/p>\n

\nThis time the rear is RK as requested, steel with lightening holes.<\/p>\n

\nBend it perfectly in two spots and you’re totally safe.<\/p>\n

Oops! I didn’t realize until too late… I threaded the chain before fixing the crack…<\/p>\n

\nWell, no point getting discouraged! It came out clean.<\/p>\n

\nVarious sketchy spots, but… we’ll seal them lightly and move on.<\/p>\n

\nThere’s squeaking here and there, so we remove, tap, spray, spray again, and oil\u2014that’s the process.<\/p>\n

\nThat exhaust coating is pretty stubborn, but this time we’ll keep it light.<\/p>\n

\nWe’ll touch up all the parts and put it back together.<\/p>\n

\nThe inside can’t be welded without dropping the engine, so we’ll just prep it lightly and weld it for now.<\/p>\n

\n*The shaft looks misaligned, but it’s fine! It’s smooth.<\/p>\n

\nThe bike leans hard on the side stand = more stress on the frame = it breaks. That’s the chain of events.
\nTurns out the bolt was coming loose.<\/p>\n

The GPZ doesn’t have a lock nut? That’s a bit of a design flaw.<\/p>\n

\nFor now we’ll just raise it 10 mm. We’ll cut the sole\u2014that’s the process.<\/p>\n

\nThat’s how we welded it. I rushed a bit, so the heat might be a little much\u2014I might get scolded for it.<\/p>\n
