The oily chain area is the final job for the rag. Thanks for your hard work.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48744\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690629.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nBack in the ZRX1100 days, I remember the damper being pretty loose. These days it looks good on the surface. And it&#8217;s actually quite solid, which is reassuring.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48745\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690630.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nThe distance collar starts to move around \u2192 you tap the axle shaft to seat it \u2192 the bearing shifts. That&#8217;s the pattern I think happens.<\/p>\n<p>The axle shaft should basically slide in smoothly by hand, so don&#8217;t go hammering it in with brute force.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48746\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690631.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nWhen I peeled back the oil seal, I got a bit of a surprise. I thought &#8220;Whoa!&#8221; wondering if it was some kind of larva, but it was grease. Let&#8217;s remove the excess.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48747\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690632.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nThe rear axle looks fine too.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48748\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690633.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nThe caliper condition is good and reassuring. Operation was smooth as well.<br \/>\n* The GSX-R series floating calipers are already discontinued. You can use the ZRX series ones as a substitute. The torque rod mounting has the bushings in place too.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48749\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690634.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\n* Swage-Line hose caution points.<br \/>\nWhen removing or cleaning the caliper, you have to twist it somewhat to get the work done.<br \/>\nThis type uses a taper to stop leaks and is fixed by the thread pitch. If you turn it in the loosening direction, it can go &#8220;click!&#8221; and come loose. When removing or installing, please do one more check. It&#8217;s dangerous. <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/DSC_7079.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><br \/>\nLooking at the original, the torque rod is mounted straight relative to the caliper boss.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48751\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690635.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nThis is a good time to clean and oil the speedometer cable inner too.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48752\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690636.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nThe front wheel bearings are fine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48753\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690637.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nThe axle shaft was also in good shape.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48754\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690638.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48755\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690639.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nThey&#8217;ve swapped out the Tokico 6P for a Nissin 4P. Looks like a great call.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s subjective, but Tokico calipers have an image of pretty effective seals. With Nissin and 4P, you get more pad options and aluminum pistons for better operation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48756\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690640.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nApply fork oil and remove debris from inside and stuck to the dust seal. Dust seals get pretty cruddy, you know.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48757\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690641.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nBetween the top and lower tubes, apply rust preventative oil, work it in, and wipe it off later. It&#8217;s better all around if the inner tubes don&#8217;t rust.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48758\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690642.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nSteering action is smooth. Lift the front and the fork is at atmospheric pressure.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48759\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690643.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48760\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/P1690648.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nEvery so often, dig out the brake disc holes. Quite a bit of brake pad dust builds up. I don&#8217;t think you&#8217;ll see a dramatic effect from doing it.
