\nI took a whole day off to play for the first time in a while. <\/div>\n

\nMaking the axle shaft side plate.
\nFirst, I tested with A5052 aluminum at the same thickness. Since it bends and hooks on, the hole position and bend angle have to be just right. Too tight means it won’t fit. Too loose means it’ll sag. The finishing work comes later.<\/p>\n

The cosmetic hole\u2014you could say it’s the face of the part. The VR3 on the right end gave me the green light on my reference, so I’ll go ahead and make it this way.<\/p>\n

\nI went luxurious with grade 2 titanium. I did a hairline finish before making it. It’s a solid 3 mm thick, so it’s reassuring.<\/p>\n

\nI was careful to avoid any bend marks, and it turned out well. Lately I’ve been buying titanium stock here and there and playing around with my own projects. Compared to SUS304, cutting and drilling are easier. Bending isn’t too bad either.<\/p>\n

The downside is the high price.<\/p>\n

\nI’ll position it and weld the lower mount.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nSadly, my rough welding might actually look period-correct.<\/p>\n

\nI attached a reinforcement plate as a cosmetic touch. I only welded the left and right connections, and skipped the front and back. Especially on the pivot side\u2014that would be risky.<\/p>\n

\nNext I’ll make the support bracket and weld it, and the swingarm should be done.<\/p>\n

Without the torque rod, it really does look clean and nice.<\/p>\n

\nI centered the wheel and matched the width, and the fitting is roughly complete.
\nThe GSX1100S wheel works really well with it.<\/p>\n

Ah, satisfied! That’s all!<\/p>\n
