\nWe’ll start with the carburetor that’s been slowly leaking.<\/p>\n

\nAll sorts of used bikes come through here, but… we hear the phrase “the carburetor was already overhauled when I bought it” so many times.<\/p>\n

It seems like the general understanding is that “disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly = OH.”
\nWe write “OH” and such on our work orders, but we can’t really brag about it, so honestly we’d like to label it more like “cleaning and reassembly,” but customers find that confusing, so we stick with OH.<\/p>\n

\nYou can see the stains from years of leaking.<\/p>\n

\nIt looks kind of scary, but… it seems pretty hard, so we’ll leave it as is.
\nTIG welding is tough in a spot like this.<\/p>\n

\nIf we set the auto punch to its weakest and tap it, it might not break, but… before that, there’s no real need for a press fit here.<\/p>\n

\nI’m not really sure why, but… why is there a crack?<\/p>\n

\nThe rust didn’t seem too bad.<\/p>\n

\nUgh… yeah, quite a few parts here.<\/p>\n

When it’s in this state, anyone would go “ugh.”<\/p>\n

\nJust separating the big ones from the small ones makes it look neat. I think it reduces mistakes too.<\/p>\n

\nWe’ll clean off nearly thirty years of grime and ask it to hang in there for another thirty years.<\/p>\n
