\nFirst, I’ll start working from the rear. Getting this far apart takes about 30 minutes. This is a Suzuki with excellent serviceability.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s got a pretty good layer of grime on it. Let’s clean it up while we’re at it.<\/p>\n

\nThere are signs of something pretty scary happening here. I’ll check it out.<\/p>\n

\nVehicles from the 20th century tend to have good oil content. The sleeve wear was minimal and in good shape.<\/p>\n

\nThis Suzuki OEM puller is now discontinued, but I’ll use it to remove the pivot. For the GSX-R1100, this was the specified tool in the manual. Later, when you get to the 1200 series and beyond, a sliding hammer becomes the designated tool.<\/p>\n

But using a sliding hammer solo is pretty tough. Securing the swingarm is also a hassle. I think pulling with a puller is the smarter approach.<\/p>\n

\nIf you find one on auction sites, you should grab it.<\/p>\n

\nI’m trying to keep the work efficient. While I had the swingarm out, I warmed up the linkage. Disassembling and removing the bearings took about an hour.<\/p>\n
