I washed the rear the other day, so front left and right.<br \/>\nClean, and the piston action is smooth.<\/p>\n<p>I understand the impulse\u2014&#8221;caliper piston action is stiff, so spend time oiling and working it&#8221;\u2014but it&#8217;s very inefficient. Stiff action usually comes from seal degradation or corrosion on the body side, where the seal gets pushed inward by groove corrosion. But honestly, I&#8217;d rather not soak them in water. From experience, I think it&#8217;s a reliable fluid.<\/p>\n<p>The clutch release fluid is leaking, so I&#8217;ll swap the cup. (On order.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-49845\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/P1680410.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nA slider you can remove from the outside\u2014the best. Definitely don&#8217;t pry it off with a flathead screwdriver. You&#8217;ll scratch the bottom case.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s smarter to tap it off with something wide and thin. (A non-cutting scraper works too.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-49848\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/P1680450.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nApply it to your hand and work it in; you can feel rust and step wear with your fingertips.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-49849\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/P1680451.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nStroke it and wipe away the sediment. SKF starts smooth, but over time it becomes &#8220;normal stiff.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-49850\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/P1680452.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"684\" \/><br \/>\nSpray rust-preventive oil on the top of the stem and work it in.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.az-oil.jp\/shop\/shopdetail.html?brandcode=000000000759\">AZ Super Lube Long-Term Rust-Prevention Spray<\/a> is pretty sharp.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s inexpensive, but the impression is that the rust-preventive oil dries and leaves a film. My Zephyr&#8217;s raw tank is coated with this and hasn&#8217;t rusted.<\/p>\n<p>I use it for caliper rust prevention too.
