To make it keyless, I’ll disassemble it first and then think about whether it’s feasible.<\/p>\n

\nThe gold center is the cylinder lock. It contains a spring and ball, and the claw extends to prevent removal from the front. You can remove it by sliding a thin flathead screwdriver to compress it.<\/p>\n

\nI spent a day wondering how to make it keyless. Turning it is easy\u2014the problem is the cylinder lock that prevents removal. I considered various options like snap rings, but couldn’t find suitable dimensions in my inventory.

\nWhoever invented the key cylinder was brilliant\u2014but something like this would be easy to pick. I thought about machining this part, but since that’s tedious, I’ll remove everything except the lock and drill a center hole on the lathe instead.<\/p>\n

I don’t think anyone will copy this, but please use an end mill. If you use a drill bit, it’ll turn to scrap in a second.<\/p>\n

\nThe cylinder has good material on the sides, so two M4 set screws are plenty.
\nIf you drill a little into the fastener side, one would probably be enough.<\/p>\n

It’s an insecure setup. This time I’m keeping it simple like this. That’s all!<\/p>\n
