\nWe thoroughly clean the chain and sprockets, then carefully oil them.<\/p>\n

\nRemove the dust boots and give them a good oiling.<\/p>\n

\nI personally apply it to my hand and wipe down the whole thing.<\/p>\n

\nThe area above the stem rusts even more easily, so I apply rust preventative oil to my hand and wipe that down too.<\/p>\n

The rust preventative oil I’ve been using lately seems to dry or form a protective film. That’s why my Z’s tank doesn’t rust.<\/p>\n

\nYou should wipe down the throttle cable once in a while and then oil it. This might be the first time ever for this bike.<\/p>\n

\nDon’t think that this thick wire goes to the harness\u2014it’s basically just one thin wire, maybe 2 square millimeters.<\/p>\n

It’s surprising in a way.<\/p>\n

\nClean the sidestand from the inside once in a while too.<\/p>\n

\nIt moves smoothly and looks clean\u2014no issues there.<\/p>\n

\nThe front looks clean too. A light wash and we’re done.<\/p>\n

\nAfter washing, apply rust preventative oil to the surface and polish it. Keeping it moisturized is good for the exterior too. I think the fittings resist rust well.<\/p>\n

Don’t just think “it’s original, so whatever.” Chant “monoblock, monoblock” to yourself as you work, and you might put more heart into it.<\/p>\n

\nThe fluid was clean. We use Golden Cruiser.<\/p>\n

\nA full restoration would be a lot of work, so I just spot-treated the areas that looked bad.<\/p>\n
