A pristine early-model GSX-R750 GR71 is really rare at our shop, so every time we work on one it’s a learning experience.<\/p>\n

\nWe started with the oil-cooled maintenance, and the damper condition was excellent. It doesn’t look like it’s been run hard.<\/p>\n

\nIt might even be the first time it’s been replaced.<\/p>\n

\nThere was all sorts of debris and mummified remains in the gaps.<\/p>\n

\nFor its age, the damper still had good rubber feel to it. That might be evidence it hasn’t overheated much.<\/p>\n

\nThe generator connector has melted. Since it generates a decent amount of amperage, there’s not much we can do about it as long as it’s connected.<\/p>\n

The contact surface is quite large for a 250-type, but it’s not making contact across the entire face.
\nThat said, we’ll restore it to the original shape as much as possible. (After this, we naturally cut it and replaced both the terminals and connector with new ones of the same shape.)<\/p>\n
