\nIt’s been two years since the brake fluid was changed. You’d really want to do it about once a year.<\/p>\n

I think it’s better to choose brake fluid based on your intended use.
\nResponsive racing fluid does seem to have a shorter shelf life.
\nIf you taste it once and say “hmm, I can’t really tell the difference,” then standard DOT4 should be fine.<\/p>\n

Highly hygroscopic fluid does deteriorate faster. Since it’s really troublesome if it goes bad, I’d recommend choosing based on your use and changing it once a year, or at least every two years.<\/p>\n

\nNot changing the coolant won’t cause immediate failure.
\nBut it heats up to just over 100 degrees and cools down repeatedly, and impurities and corrosion seem likely to develop.<\/p>\n

If the water pump fails, you can detect engine oil mixing in, so I’d say using it for about two years is good.<\/p>\n
