\nIt feels like we’ve finally gotten back to normal work. <\/div>\n

\nFirst, let’s thoroughly wipe down the chain and clean it, then apply oil.<\/p>\n

\nThe SKF oil seal starts out very “smooth” but gets stiffer over time and distance. I think it’s good to clean and oil it occasionally as well.<\/p>\n

\nWe’re replacing the fender, so we’ll remove the wheel.
\nWe’ve masked everything up, and it would be disappointing if we scratched it. Since it’s Marchesini, we’ll be gentle.<\/p>\n

\nCheck if rotation is smooth<\/p>\n

\nWe check the distance collar between the bearings for any play.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s already clean before we even wash it, which is appreciated.<\/p>\n

\nAfter cleaning the caliper, we lightly spray anti-rust coating and wipe everything off. It becomes glossy and I think the body holds up better.<\/p>\n

If we don’t do this, the connecting bolts can rust and become stuck, and I think corrosion can progress on the hidden underside.<\/p>\n

Over the years, I’ve come to feel that we were cleaning thoroughly with good intentions, but the degreased calipers were actually triggering corrosion.<\/p>\n

\nIt looks dusty, but the rear is clean too.<\/p>\n

\nJust applying anti-rust coating makes it even glossier and cleaner. I’d like to treat the stock brakes the same way we do Brembo.<\/p>\n

\nWe replaced the engine oil and filter.<\/p>\n

\nWe swapped the tank for an H2 unit.<\/p>\n

\nA plan to see if the handlebar height could be raised. I suggested maybe a VFR800 could work, and they approved it for just one side, so…<\/p>\n

\nBasically it’s the type that mounts on top, so it’s a reach, but since the reach is long I thought it might work out… but it’s pretty close or just one position short.<\/p>\n

If we don’t restrict the steering angle, everything will contact the tank. Looks like it’s a no-go.<\/p>\n

After a test ride and grip replacement, we’ll be done.<\/p>\n
