\nWe picked up this GSX-R1100M the other day. It had been sitting for a long time, and the owner wants to bring it back to life.<\/p>\n

\nThe condition is pretty sharp in places, which makes me a bit nervous.<\/p>\n

\nThe corrosion is amazing\u2014it really catches you off guard.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThe saving grace is that the tank came through okay. If it had rusted and corroded, that would be a real problem.<\/p>\n

\nWe removed the fairings and did a quick check. It’s pretty dusty.<\/p>\n

\"\" \"\"
\nSpray some no-touch cleaner and wipe it down with a cloth, and it comes clean in a hurry. With water washing, you can’t tell if it’s clean until it dries, and honestly it doesn’t get as clean.<\/p>\n

\nThe benefit of wiping it down is that you can see the fine details clearly. The battery bracket tab is broken too. It’s still usable, so I’ll weld it later.<\/p>\n

\"\" The left duct bracket was already removed, but it’s broken too.<\/p>\n

\nI wish people wouldn’t use Phillips head bolts on the intake manifold. They’re better than countersunk screws, but they’re the kind of spot that catches people out.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s not really in the workflow at all, but I polished it anyway\u2014maybe to light the beacon of resurrection?<\/p>\n

\nWhen the fine details are clean, the finish looks completely different. It’s clean and makes me happy.<\/p>\n
