\nLet’s perform a valve clearance adjustment.<\/p>\n

\nTo be honest, I don’t think valve noise gets too bad very often. What does happen is the cam can seize, the rocker arm wears down, and the knocking noise gets severe.<\/p>\n

I’ve rarely seen the valve clearance get too tight. It’s a well-designed, low-maintenance engine, and I have to admire that.<\/p>\n

Everything was in excellent condition with no seizing. The valve clearances were all nicely aligned, running just a bit on the loose side.<\/p>\n

\nThe owner has been changing the engine oil regularly, so the inside is clean and reassuring.<\/p>\n

\nThe carburettor is currently undergoing overhaul, so hopefully the color will improve a bit more.<\/p>\n

\nAll readings from #1 through #4 were reassuringly good.<\/p>\n

\nThe breather cover was polished up nice and clean.<\/p>\n

\nI gave it a slight stepped profile.<\/p>\n
