Let’s start by disassembling the carburettor.<\/p>\n

\nThe exterior corrosion is quite heavy.<\/p>\n

\nNo rust and in good condition.<\/p>\n

\nBoth the back and front weren’t as dirty with carbon blowback as I expected.<\/p>\n

\nThere was one spot of binding on cylinder #4.<\/p>\n

\nAround 70,000 kilometers? Still plenty of life left.<\/p>\n

\nThe needle’s anodizing must have held up well. It’s a beautiful piece.<\/p>\n

\nThe slide valve condition is also excellent. Of course, this is after cleaning.<\/p>\n

\nThe GS1200SS is already 15 years old… time flies.<\/p>\n

\nWe took it completely apart.<\/p>\n

\nThough it’s not the same carburettor, this is the kind of finish you get. Very satisfying.<\/p>\n
