\nThe Bandit 1200 K6 has already passed 11 years. So the last bastion of oil-cooled parts is also 11 years old\u2026<\/p>\n

I’ll do some prep work partway through.<\/p>\n

\nFor some reason the K6 is the only one left out when it comes to the cam. The standard cam, sprocket, and crank are all the same, so there’s nothing to worry about.<\/p>\n

\nThe oil management is excellent and the condition is very clean, which is a relief.<\/p>\n

\nThe standard cam shows no scuffing and is in good condition.<\/p>\n

\nThe rocker arms could be reused, but I’ll replace them while I’m at it.<\/p>\n

\nThe key was this gentle radius slipper. Once it starts to wear, the noise gets progressively louder. I think it’s more the knocking sound from slipper wear than actual valve train noise.<\/p>\n

\nThe recent edge burrs don’t feel too bad. I’ll smooth them out a bit though.<\/p>\n

\nThey’ve already smoothed it out lightly. Impressive.<\/p>\n

\nI’ll do a light deburring and initial break-in.<\/p>\n

If the valve timing drifts from the Yoshimura spec, I’ll use the elongated holes.
\nSometimes the elongated holes don’t help anyway, so lately if it doesn’t work I go with the elongated holes.<\/p>\n
