\nThe corrosion is pretty severe, as you’d expect. It’s a 1989 model, so it’s been 28 years now.<\/p>\n

\nThe oil is nicely dirty too.<\/p>\n

\nIt takes about 20 minutes per side to clean it up like this.<\/p>\n

\nBoth sides are done. Once you strip away the old layer, it’s suddenly clean.<\/p>\n

\nThat semi-gloss aluminum bare metal looks great.<\/p>\n

\nWe’re coating it with clear and letting it dry.<\/p>\n

\nMoving on to stem bearing replacement.<\/p>\n

There were more photos, but for some reason they didn’t save\u2014a little trouble there\u2014so we have fewer shots.<\/p>\n

\nWe packed it with NC100 grease and assembled it properly.<\/p>\n

\nThe wheel bearing grease has gotten sticky too.<\/p>\n

\nLet’s clean out those holes thoroughly.<\/p>\n

\nWe’ll replace the bolts too. I’d like to do something about the inner part as well\u2026<\/p>\n
