\nThe rear suspension has also come back from overhaul, so now the bike is standing properly and ready for inspection.<\/p>\n

\nWe washed it the other day, but that was before we got the steam cleaner, so we’re washing it again.
\nThis cast gold Brembo is really stubborn about dirt. Black dust like this won’t come off with a brush, so usually we give up.<\/p>\n

\nThe image is from the other side, but it actually comes off surprisingly well. That’s really helpful.<\/p>\n

\nAfter cleaning, applying rust preventative makes dust less likely to stick. The caliper really seems to have come back to life more than I expected.<\/p>\n

Maintenance is basically unglamorous work, and you don’t see dramatic results unless something is really wrong. I think that if you combine the basic service with cleaning the spots that only come clean when you take things apart, you can keep the bike in good condition for a long time.<\/p>\n

\nWe’d like to clean the caliper support at times like this too.<\/p>\n

\nIf someone at a tire shop somewhere says “that looks clean,” I think that would make me a little happy.<\/p>\n

\nThe rear axle looks good too.<\/p>\n

\nThe rear wheel bearing is in good shape.<\/p>\n

\nWith push rivets, you can gently hold wiring with nylon clips like this.<\/p>\n

\nThe spring seating was a bit off, sorry about that. Since the return was sluggish, we added an extra spring.<\/p>\n

\nWe set it up so the opening and closing is controlled by a Honda choke cable.<\/p>\n

\nWe remade the boss and welded it in place for a solid fix.
\nThis makes opening and closing the seat much easier.<\/p>\n
