Since Monday was a holiday, the parts and materials ordering has been delayed.<\/p>\n

\nThese connection points are hoses. You can really feel the age in this carburetor.
\nSince it’s exposed to the elements, deterioration might be faster, I suppose.<\/p>\n

\nThere was no significant rust or anything; it was in good condition.<\/p>\n

\nI didn’t want to get too deep into it, but I went ahead and set it to four for now.<\/p>\n

\nDirt has accumulated on the inside as well.<\/p>\n

\nCarburetor small parts are supplied in only the bare minimum from a product liability standpoint. This fiber packing near the shaft isn’t supplied either, so I’m always torn between reusing it, finding a substitute, or something else.<\/p>\n

The more work I do, the more I wonder if it’s really just a matter of taking it apart, cleaning it, and reassembling it for an overhaul.<\/p>\n

\nThe starter valve has collapsed. This is the first time I’ve seen it go this far.<\/p>\n

\nMost are center pin type, but back in the day there were plain ones too. Some ran poorly depending on how they were adjusted.<\/p>\n

\nOne acceleration pump rod was bent. Since the part isn’t available, I straightened it and reused it. The seals around this rod area aren’t supplied either.<\/p>\n

\nI clean up what I can on my own.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s already clean, but let’s clean it up as much as we can.<\/p>\n

\nThe parts won’t arrive for a little while. Since I’m making a carburetor box, I can put them in here so they won’t be in the way, and there’s no risk of parts going missing or getting mixed up.<\/p>\n

For boxes used in organizing and tidying, I think it’s good to choose something that lasts a long time and looks nice even when sitting around.
