\nIt’s the height of summer. The strain on the oil is enormous.<\/p>\n

\nFork seal area cleaning, lubrication, and inspection. We performed an overhaul on this SKF previously.
\nSome time has passed since then. Even this SKF does get stiffer as time goes on. I don’t notice any difference from a standard unit.<\/p>\n

Various manufacturers tout all sorts of good things, but you need to know what condition they’re actually in after you’ve used them and accumulated distance and time.
\nThat said, it’s no mistake that SKF helps us out a lot.<\/p>\n

\nClutch lever and cable. If you keep the cable from rubbing as much as possible, it’ll last a very long time. When you remove it, check that it’s not hitting hard, and if it’s frayed, replace it.
\nThe new one feels amazing, but this one still works.<\/p>\n

\nBoth left and right levers had good lubrication. You can clean from the outside, but it’s nice to get deep inside and give them a good greasing.<\/p>\n

\nThe throttle looks clean too.<\/p>\n

\nA good thorough wash feels great.
\nApply one or two drops of engine oil to the handlebar side, spread it well, and lubricate lightly for rust protection. You don’t have to do it, but keep in mind your handlebar could end up rough and dry.<\/p>\n

\nThe cable contact looks good.<\/p>\n

\nThe side stand is a spot you touch every time you get on and off the bike. Just having it smooth makes a big difference in comfort.<\/p>\n

\nThe pads are running low, so we’ll replace them.<\/p>\n

\nThere’s a lot of heavy dust buildup. The piston action should be good.<\/p>\n
