\nLet’s get a rough idea of the dimensions.<\/p>\n

\nThis is my first time installing one, but… the instructions say to drill holes 10 mm above and below the center hole at 90 degrees. The top is fine, but what about the bottom?<\/p>\n

\nNo matter how I think about it, it’s going to hit the oil lock…
\nOption 1: Using the existing hole as the lowest point, drill holes at the 10 mm and 20 mm positions.<\/p>\n

Option 2: Shorten the oil lock with machining.<\/p>\n

Those are the choices.<\/p>\n

\nAt my skill level, drilling holes in a pipe is difficult. I want to avoid deforming it when clamping, and I need to get the alignment just right. I’ll use a bit of ingenuity and this long V-block to get the alignment perfect before clamping.<\/p>\n

\nI’ll do a little machining on the oil lock, polish it, and we’re done.<\/p>\n

\nDeburring the inside was pretty tedious.<\/p>\n

\nI used a vacuum pump to bleed out the air, and we’re finished.<\/p>\n
