The front brake hose
must have enough slack so thateven when the front fork is fully extended and fully compressed, it doesn’t contact anything.<\/strong>This is critical.
Brake hoses that are too longcan get pinched, caught, or cause problems during full stroke.<\/strong>That’s a major issue.
Of course, the longer the hose, the more stress it puts on each component.

Ideally I’d like to use the thin 750 tank, but unfortunately it’s quite rusty.
The GSX-R1100J tank interior is nearly pristine, so I’ll use that instead.

Be very careful with fuel tank rust removal treatment.
Rust removal alone is fine,
but once you apply a coating, you basically can’t remove it.

And since fuel tanks have complex internal passages,
coating everything indiscriminately can cause serious problems.
This GSXR-series tank also has somewhat complex internal passages, so it’s something to watch out for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fuel petcock is in bad shape, so I’m considering sourcing parts from a used GSX1100S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t recall replacing early-generation fuel petcocks in recent years.
Just in case, I rummaged through the stock box and found a Katana petcock.
It looks almost identical, so I thought maybeI could just swap the knob and use it, but it didn’t work.<\/strong>
The knob diameter is different<\/strong>… a subtle change had been made.

So I just got the filter and mounting O-ring from a good one.
Ideally I’d disassemble it, wet blast it, and reassemble,
but I think the rubber parts would tear.
