\nRemoving the swingarm and linkage takes about 15 to 20 minutes. That’s where the quick part ends.
\nThe linkage is dirty on the outside, but the condition inside is excellent. We’ve already ordered parts, so we’ll do a thorough replacement while we’re at it.<\/p>\n

\nThe condition depends on whether oil remains. It’s not the rotating parts that wear\u2014it’s the same spot that keeps rubbing endlessly. With plenty of oil, that contact area stays well lubricated.<\/p>\n

\nThe chain slider is in rough shape too. If this is dirty, the chain will get dirty no matter how new you make it. After you apply chain oil, wipe it off.<\/p>\n

\nThe pop rivets are spinning\u2014it’s the worst. We’ll deal with that later.<\/p>\n

\nAll the other parts are in nice condition\u2014reassuring.<\/p>\n

\nThere was plenty of oil in there.<\/p>\n

\nWe pulled out all the swingarm and linkage bearings. We polish and clean anything that can be restored. It feels great.<\/p>\n

\nWe replaced all the bearings and packed them thoroughly with Newtech NC100 grease.<\/p>\n

\nNow it’s just assembly. When you’ve cleaned it this well, you’ll want to reach in and polish it again after every ride.<\/p>\n
