\nSince the rear braking wasn’t quite up to par, we replaced the master cup piston\u2014a spot that often goes overlooked during maintenance\u2014and polished it clean at the same time.<\/p>\n

\nNot much distance has been covered since last time, so the pads are still in good shape. The front brakes are working well. The rear feels a bit stiff, but we’ll keep an eye on it for now.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s hard to believe, but this K6 has already been around for ten years.<\/p>\n

\nLeft is new, right is old\u2014it’s slightly swollen and the umbrella is starting to close. While it’s not a spot that typically leaks and causes problems, it’s an area where moisture and debris can accumulate, so if it’s never been checked before, it’s worth inspecting.<\/p>\n

\nThe side is worn and shiny. The cup debris is likely a mix of metal particles.<\/p>\n

\nWe discovered that by lowering the grit on the plate, we can lightly polish just the surface. It comes out looking brand new.<\/p>\n

\nWe replaced the front and rear brake fluid and clutch fluid.
\n\u2022 Front and rear brake and clutch fluid replacement: 2 points \u00d7 4 = 8 points
\n\u2022 Rear master overhaul = 6 points
\n\u2022 Polishing work = 2 points
\n\u2022 Caliper cleaning and bleeding: 2 points \u00d7 3 = 6 points
\n\u2022 Chain cleaning and adjustment = 2 points
\n\u2022 Front fork lubrication = 1 point
\nTotal: 25 points. Normally, rear master overhaul is not offered as a standard service. This is an example of a test case we performed.<\/p>\n
