\nI used to think adjustable accelerator wires were convenient and used them in the past.
\nFrequent adjustment means the outer cable lengthens. There are many drawbacks, like the intermediate adjustment hitting the frame or tank. The only real benefit is not having to machine the inner wire.<\/p>\n

\nThe Active DIY Accelerator Wire Kit is really convenient. Since you can make it any length you want, you can achieve odd lengths that aren’t sold commercially.<\/p>\n

\nBoth the outer and inner cables are thinner. Being thin isn’t inherently better, but it’s a real advantage when laying out the routing.<\/p>\n

\nThe wire frays easily with regular nippers. Bicycle-type cutters like Shimano work much better. Bikes are going electric these days too, I guess…<\/p>\n

\nWe crimp it to prevent slipping. Nothing is all good. There are one or two drawbacks.
\nFirst, since we crimp the fitting, it’s not quick-disconnect\u2014detaching it is a bit of a hassle. Currently, fittings only come in straight, so you need some clearance on top. If angled options like 20 or 45 degrees become available, the possibilities would expand.<\/p>\n

\nIf you run it through mesh tubing, you can bundle it and it’s less likely to scratch the frame or bodywork.<\/p>\n

\nAn accelerator stopper is essential. I really dislike top routing, but there’s no way around it, so we go with top. The holder has great texture from Works Mag.<\/p>\n
