\nThe engine would occasionally start and stop\u2014a suspicious symptom. Based on the symptoms, I suspected the Watanabe unit itself. We were able to borrow the unit to test it, and sure enough, the unit was dead. This is the third case like this at our shop. Nothing lasts forever, and since repair wasn’t an option, we replaced the unit.<\/p>\n

\nWe chose Dunlop GT601 tires. Dunlop bias equals Jegra\u2014that’s old school.<\/p>\n

\nTubes are usually Michelin. There’s no particular reason, but I find boxed tubes give me peace of mind.<\/p>\n

\nDirt has accumulated, so we clean it up in a flash using power tools. Let’s replace the rim band at the same time.<\/p>\n

\nOver the past year or two, I learned a different method for tube and tire changes. It’s incredibly fast\u2014what was I doing all this time? Well, I’d say I’ve learned something new.<\/p>\n

\nCheck the pressure marking and inflate to the max, making sure the bead is properly seated. Then, whether radial or bias, spin it and visually check the tire runout. These days, including this tire, there are really a lot of high-quality products out there.<\/p>\n

But considering the possibilities, even with careful management and shipping, some products might slip through. Checking it definitely improves safety and peace of mind, I’m sure of it.
