\n<\/a> Piston protrusion can become uneven due to various factors. \u2191 Inner and outer piston protrusion amounts.
\nWhen the caliper isn’t centered, and especially when the piston protrusion becomes uneven like this, we want to center the caliper.<\/p>\n

Whether it’s “stock” or a “centered caliper,” if you align the piston protrusion just a little, you might notice “Hey, that’s lighter? Spins better?” and things like that.
\nIt’s not a dramatic effect, but every little bit adds up to good performance\u2014that’s what maintenance is all about.<\/p>\n

\n<\/a> Brake pad chamfering<\/p>\n

You might get good results if you do it to match the disk’s condition.
\nThe brake outer disk doesn’t make contact with the pad across its entire surface\u2014there’s excess material at the top and bottom. As the disk and pad wear to a certain point, contact can become poor. With a worn disk and new pads, chamfering the top and bottom of the pad might give you faster contact and less drag.<\/p>\n

Every now and then, clean the brake disk with brake cleaner too. It’s dirtier than you’d think.
\nWatch out\u2014the first brake application might feel weak.<\/p>\n
