\nWheel bearings will spin to some degree regardless of how they’re assembled, but there are sweet spots to hit.<\/p>\n

\n<\/a>The bearing press-fit area on one side goes “all the way to the bottom,” and on the other side it’s “just right?” (though this may vary by manufacturer). It’s a tricky balance.
\nUsing one side as the reference, you press it all the way in, and the other side is “just right?”\u2014it’s quite a difficult feel to get.
\nOnce you understand the play in the distance collar, how the bearing spins, and how things change when you tighten the axle, the wheel will become lighter, have less resistance, and perform as it should.
\nThis is why we don’t want the axle shaft hammered during tire changes. If it won’t slide in smoothly by hand, something’s wrong.<\/p>\n

\n<\/a>It’s a big Brembo, anyway. Lately there are so many large-size ones that the prestige is completely gone.
\nMaybe the day will come when small-size ones are rare?<\/p>\n
