What’s a good guideline for when to replace the chain and sprocket?
\nBoth mileage and time are hard to pin down\u2026
\nThe guideline is really the wear on the sprocket and one-sided stretch of the chain.
\n\u2191Like in the photo above, the front drive sprocket is in a “pointy” state
 
\n
 
A fresh sprocket with plenty of teeth has very little play \u2605
\nIt’s packed in tight \u2605
 
\n
 
Rattling and missing teeth \u2605 The play from throttle ON\/OFF is pretty substantial.
\nIt looks sad \u2605
 
\n
 
When you pull the worn sprocket to the left, it moves quite a bit \u2605

Even when you shift it to the right~
\nThe chain rollers are getting “clack clack clack clack” hammered between them, so it’s in pretty rough working condition.
