Good morning!
\nSomeone showing up first thing in the morning like this
 
has something off about them.
\n
 
When there’s a weird feeling when pushing, pulling, or braking,
\nto be extra safe I touch and spin the countershaft bearing to check it.
\nChecking for play with the wheel installed.
\nChecking the bearing with the wheel removed.
\nPretty much confirmed… it’s in a weird state I’ve rarely seen before.
\nEven though there’s grease, there’s a strange grinding feel to it \u2605
\nIf it’s really bad, you can stick your finger in and feel the condition by working it around.
\n\u2022 Spins smoothly but the inner race is loose.
\n\u2022 Grinding and barely turns.
\n\u2022 Grinding feel in just a few spots.
\nIf it’s just the bearing by itself, it’s easy to check,
\nbut when it’s pressed in,
\ndepending on how the bearing sits, the inner race gets pushed against the distance collar making it stiff, or there’s space\u2014all kinds of different conditions.
\nAnyway, lately I’ve been freaked out by “axles tightened like crazy!”
\nIt’s tight in here, so let’s do this next week or later, yeah?
