Well, it’s a weekday, but I’m thrilled that two customers came to pick up their bikes.
\nOne of them picked up the Bandit with the round oil cooler,
\nand they’d even swapped it to a stock muffler for the inspection.
\nThe oil cooler pipes and exhaust pipe are too close together\u2014it’s dangerous! \u2605
\nI figured they’d swap the muffler back when they got home, but…
\nIt’s a slip-on!
\n….
\nHmm, what do we do?
\nIdeally…
\nRight now?
\nWe took everything apart to figure it out.
\nOption 1: Push the union in tighter\u2014even at the best angle we could only gain 3mm, and there’s an issue with the oil pan female thread length, so that’s out.
\nOption 2: Modify the exhaust pipe to move it forward. That’s not an option.
\nOption 3: Rebend the pipe.
\nThe pipe is already bent to nearly 120 degrees, so there’s no way to work with it.
\nOption 4: Heat the exhaust pipe and dent it inward.
\nThat’s the one! I didn’t want to remove the muffler, so I asked them to do it themselves.
\nThey said it was fine even though we didn’t have a nice sheet metal hammer,
\nand went at it\u2014*clang clang clang*

Make sure to apply heat-resistant coating to the exhaust pipe.
