I wanted a shorter digital depth gauge\u2026
\nThere aren’t many options out there,
\nand some sketchy ones do sell, but their measurement ranges are awkward.
\nWhen the fork protrusion gets long, it gets in the way\u2026
\nSo I decided to just chop up a Mitutoyo Digital Depth VDS-15DCX\u2014
\na wasteful thing to do.

For some reason, it won’t cut at all\u2026 The contour tool can’t get any purchase either,
\nso I ended up just going at it with a cutting wheel. \u2605
\nNext I thought I’d tap an M2 hole in the stopper to lock it in place, but\u2026
\nOur cobalt bit can’t get any purchase at all\u2026
\nFor now, I’ll just tape it down.
\nI thought about shortening the legs too, but it looks risky, so I’ll hold off.
