Well, since it just wouldn’t stick,

Well! Laxo\u2014sounds pretty easy!

We cut the band saw blade using super analog measurements.
\nHorizontal (500 mm) four times and vertical (400 mm) once equals 2400 mm total.
\nYou can also measure it directly against the pulley.
 
\n
 
It’s a device that gets red-hot\u2014welding, or whatever you want to call it.
 
\n
 
Testing the crimp pressure with scrap pieces.
\nFirst, we adjust the pressure and weld. Since it springs back when you release it, you have to keep pressing.
 
\n
 
The weld button springs back when you release it, so while pressing, we do a little annealing.
\nWhile holding the weld button, we release the lever to free it up.
 
\n
 
We grind down the bulge to make it flat.
 
\n
 
Finally, we do a few more anneal cycles.
\nWe don’t actually heat it nearly as much as I thought\u2014”Pwaaaa, poo, poo, poot.”
\nA few gentle passes and we’re done.
\nI was amazed at how easily it stuck together! That’s Aiyama for you!

Being the lazy type, after Aiyama left I made three extras and stocked them!
\nWe got almost a 100% success rate.
\nI got frustrated and tried TIG welding instead, but it didn’t work\u2026
\nThe reasons for failure were:
\n1) I couldn’t quite figure out the right pressure
\n2) I overheated it during annealing and made it brittle.
\nI think that’s it. Without a conter, I’m really in a jam.
