\nWhen a call comes into the shop from a cell phone, I think, “Oh no, something’s wrong!”
\nIt makes me feel really anxious.
\nApparently something’s off with the transmission,
\nand since the symptoms weren’t clear, they had it towed in\u2014it’s a former racing bike.

The push-pull is already making grinding noises, so “work mistake?” crosses my mind,
\nbut “that’s pretty much impossible,” so I’m going full detective mode.
 
\n
 
Metal shavings are falling out everywhere\u2026
\nThe countershaft is already rattling around in all directions\u2026
 
\n
 
When I remove the sprocket, the oil seal is completely blown out
 
\n
 
and the countershaft bearing is toast.
\nTwo years in a row spending the new year at Decoboco\u2026
\nIt didn’t make it to 100,000 kilometers\u2014too bad! \u2605
