On the way home (Hanzomon Line) \u2013 the train’s air conditioning was way too cold
\nOnce I stepped outside, it was scorching hot
\nI wanted to pick up a souvenir and eat some shaved ice, so I headed to Toraya’s main Akasaka branch \u2605
\nI ducked down into the basement tea lounge \u2605

I ordered Uji Kintoki with extra condensed milk and mochi balls

The subtle bitterness was perfect, and the ice was nice and crispy \u2605 Such refined elegance.
\nBuried beneath the ice was a layer of refined, sweet red bean paste.
\nMaybe because of the location or because it was a weekday, the place was practically empty \u2013 absolutely perfect!

I bought some for home and some as gifts, but man, they were incredibly heavy…
\nThe large yokan weighs 1.4 kilograms!
\nThere’s no way I could eat all that.
\nEven the medium yokan is 390 grams \u2013 if you’re a guy, you should just eat it straight from the bar.
