N? in for a Flat-Rate Motorcycle Inspection.<br \/>\nThe customer said the gear engagement was extremely stiff and asked us to check it out.<br \/>\nYou know, we used to see this sometimes\u2014oil-cooled bikes that wouldn&#8217;t shift up or down.<br \/>\nThe cause turned out to be excessive backlash in the ratchet area at the tip of the shift shaft and the primary reduction gears.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s a rare problem, but I believe in mechanics, not magic.<br \/>\n(Note: leaving it alone won&#8217;t make the fairies fix it for you \u2605)<br \/>\nWhen I took it for a quick ride, the clutch wasn&#8217;t fully disengaging, so <br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/imp\/674393_62355059_0.jpg\" \/><br \/>&nbsp;<br \/> These are really areas that should be part of the maintenance checklist.<br \/>\nSuzukis don&#8217;t leak much so we leave it alone, but Yamahas leak almost constantly\u2014it&#8217;s a real problem. <br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/imp\/674393_62355059_1.jpg\" \/><br \/>&nbsp;<br \/> Yeah! Looks good \u2605 <br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.decoboco.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/imp\/674393_62355059_3.jpg\" \/><br \/>&nbsp;<br \/> The difference between new and used is clear \u2605 Used ones are squishy, new ones are crisp and tight.<br \/>\nThe best part was that there were no steps worn into the cylinder \u2605<br \/>\nWhen wear creates steps and the seal catches on them, it wears faster, and the piston gets pushed back and forth, causing it to wobble and go &#8220;click.&#8221;<br \/>\nBut with oil pressure squeezing it, the steps get worse and worse until it&#8217;s shot \u2605<br \/>\nIt feels great when everything moves smoothly like this.<br \/>\nWe&#8217;ll take it for a test ride tomorrow and we&#8217;re done.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So the other day we had a GSX-R1100 M?
