It’s raining~
\nEven on a day like this, I’m riding my bicycle\u2026
\nI left it at the raincoat shop and it got a bit wet.
\nWell then,
\nHere’s the GSF1200 \u2606 Front maintenance & rear maintenance.
\nEven just pushing it by hand, I can feel something off with the front.
\nWhen I lift it and work the suspension, it’s very stiff and gets stuck in the middle.
\nWhen I took it apart, the races weren’t that badly worn.
\nThe main causes are “insufficient lubricant” and “lubricant that’s dried up.”
\nAnd then there’s “poor adjustment.” Let’s not worry about age-related wear for now.
\nThe adjustment is finicky if you want to call it finicky, or loose if you want to call it loose.
\nThe goal is “smooth operation with minimal play.”
\nThough there shouldn’t be enough play to feel it\u2026
\nWhen I was about to change the fork oil, I had the junk shop pick it up,
\nand they took the stainless steel pan I’d left outside too.
\nThe fork oil is terribly dirty and smelly \u2606 pshhh
\nThe front end should feel much lighter now.
