The oil-cooled maintenance campaign service menu now includes additional options and new pricing.
\nRecently, I’ve been looking at high-mileage bikes,
\nand some of them are making noise
\nbut it’s not the tappets or cam chain.
\nSometimes the primary reduction makes a grinding or squeaking sound, but that repair is expensive, so\u2014
\nBlind spot! Generator lock nut looseness and generator damper wear.
\nAha!
\nThe generator nut is locked in place with a punch at three spots, so it shouldn’t come loose,
\nbut it does loosen and the gears rattle.
\nThe damper wears out and rattles too.
\nQuite a noisy engine.
\nSo here’s the thing:
\nWe’re adding generator repair to the service.
\nThat’s lock nut replacement, damper replacement, and O\/R installation replacement.
\nIt’s a bit involved, but the bike will run much better.
\nThe old option with oil change was a losing proposition no matter how you looked at it, so we’re dropping that.
