Now for the stem bearing replacement.
\nWe’ll use the later-model retainer-equipped ball bearings.
\nI personally like the light feel they give, and they seem to last longer.
\nMaybe it’s because there’s more space for grease to get in?
\nThis is based on our shop’s clinical results.
\nPlease don’t take it as gospel, though.
\nWe also use the later-model seals\u2014the GSF’s stock seals are just plastic with no actual sealing function.
\nUpgrading to a proper seal makes them last much longer.
\nOf course, applying grease to the lip area too boosts performance a bit.
\nOnce you’ve worked grease into both top and bottom, spin it\u2014spin it\u2014spin it.
\nIt’s not about bleeding air out, but working the grease in thoroughly all the way to the back really does make them last longer, I think.
