For those with a really long Golden Week, I guess it finally ends tomorrow.
\nGolden Week ended this year, but honestly I didn’t really need the break.
\nI’ll take time off next year.
\nI’m happy because I can take Tuesday off this week.
\nI’ve already decided where to go, so I need to work out the details.
\nThe rear derailleur arrived today\u2014I’m going to use it on my Trek Foil 77.
\nThe derailleur that came on it originally is a weird design and shifting isn’t working right.
\nI replaced the cable and adjusted it,
\nand I even took the derailleur apart, cleaned and lubricated it, and reassembled it, but it’s still not quite right.
\nMaybe the spring tension is weak? Compared to Corima’s Dura-Ace,
\nwhat I really want is Paul, then Mavic, then Campagnolo, in that order.
\nBoth Paul and Mavic are discontinued\u2014only used ones are available.
\nI’m drawn to their rugged design, but honestly I can’t justify spending 30,000 or 40,000 yen on a derailleur.
\nSo I went with Campagnolo’s Veloce in black\u2014budget-friendly.
\nThe design is pretty decent, so I chose it.
\nThe brakes are also Campagnolo Veloce skeleton model\u2014budget-friendly.
\nThe lightening holes are really nice.
\nOnce you start picking expensive parts, there’s no end to it, so I don’t build them up too much\u2014except for wheels.
\nThe other day when I went to Fig Bike to buy cable, I found “Pedal No. 2” in stock,
\nso last night I went to the bookstore for a night ride and bought it, then headed home via Yamate, Route 246, and Mitsushuku.
\nI was sure it would end with No. 1, but I never expected No. 2 to come out…
