This GSX-R just wouldn’t run right no matter what.
\nYep, we had to tear into the carburettor.
\nWhen we opened it up, well… it looked like it hadn’t been run in ages.
\nThe inside looked like the engine had fallen apart just from being started.
\nAll the O-rings needed replacing.
\nThe O-ring under the throttle body\u2014easy to forget\u2014is a must-replace.
\nFor Suzuki models, this is a critical checkpoint.
\nI think some model years have parts not on the list, but I forget which ones.
\nOn this year’s carburettor, the float, float valve, and float valve seat are all one piece.
\nSo we swapped it for the separate float and float valve from a GSF1200 carburettor.
\nThat way, next time we can just replace the float valve assembly, right?
\nI happened to have a spare used carburettor lying around, so I gave it to them.
\nCleaned it, cleaned it, cleaned it, then checked the fuel level over and over.
\nBalanced the carburetors.
\nAnd just like that, it ran pretty smoothly.
\nLubed up the throttle sleeve and it moves nice and easy.
