The annual spring cleaning has started
\nand I’ve been tossing out things I don’t need.
\nOnce you get used to listening to music from files, you can’t even be bothered to open a CD.
\nMy Gigabeat doesn’t have batteries, so I can’t listen to it without power.
\nI thought, why not listen to some records for a change? So I fired it up.
\nOh! \u266a The music flows and flows.
\nBut if I don’t clean the record first, there’s all this hissing and crackling.
\nWell, I guess that’s part of the charm.
\nWhy did I even buy a record player in the first place?
\nI guess I didn’t like the idea of never having listened to analog before, so I bought one.
\nOf course it was used\u2014I think it was around 2,000 yen?
\nI found it in a classifieds magazine called Neko-san’s Quant, and I rode my scooter all the way out to Edogawa or somewhere to pick it up.
\nI was so excited when I got it home and hooked it up, but the belt inside came loose on the way back and it wouldn’t spin.
\nI was thrilled when I got it working again.
\nRecords are different from CDs\u2014the jacket is huge! Or sometimes it’s a different jacket altogether!
\nWell, that’s really the only reason\u2014it just looks cool somehow.
\nI remembered how I used to go hunting for records. It was 10:20 p.m.
