As we get close to the 15th of each month, you start feeling that end-of-month vibe.
\nThen another week or so, and it’s the real end of the month.
\nTime flies.
\nEvery year it’s like this\u2014somehow I manage to get by, but I never seem to find enough time, or maybe I do.
\nGet to bed early, wake up, and get to work!
\nIs that all there is to it?
\nThere’s a machine shop next to us, and it’s been pretty quiet since the end of the year.
\nOn the 12th it was noisy from morning, so I thought they’d gotten some work in, but they were just doing a big cleaning!
\nEven inside the vehicles.
\nI wondered if they were going to close up shop.
\nEvery time we run into each other, they ask, “How’s business? Making good money?”
\nWhen I answer, “Oh, you know, getting by,”
\nUsually they say, “Getting by is a good thing!” with an upbeat tone.
\nBut the other day they said, “Getting by is fine,” with a downbeat tone.
