A Z1000 came in for inspection, and since I was asked to do maintenance too, I figured I’d check the plugs and sync the FI while I was at it!
\nIt’s definitely an essential item during inspection and maintenance.
\nWell, let’s see… hmm? Hmm???
\nThe connecting shaft is hidden inside the body.
\nThere are screw-like things, and between cylinders 2 and 3 there’s one idle screw on the bottom…
\nI checked with a vacuum gauge… it’s off. Well, the sound was rough anyway, so I wanted to adjust it.
\nI didn’t know what to do, and the manufacturer’s service was closed, so I called them today.
\nI asked something like, “I’d like to sync this and that…”
\n“There isn’t one\u2014it’s FI.”
\nNo way! That can’t be right. Look\u2014the manual!
\n“Can I get the frame number?”
\nHere it is.
\n“Please hold for a moment.” I waited about five minutes.
\n“Found it! Sync, maybe?” They sounded unsure.
\n“I’ll fax it over, so please check it.”
\nRoger that! Thank you very much.
\nLooking at it… well, it’s kind of like syncing, or something.
\nBasically, match the maximum vacuum between cylinders 1\/2 and 3\/4.
\nAnd sometimes all four won’t match. Well, if there’s no adjustment, they won’t match anyway.
\nJust tweaking cylinders 3\/4 and doing a little idle adjustment got them pretty close.
\nNot bad!
\nThe GSX1400 was easier to do, though.
